Digital Art
What is the difference between these types of digital art?
I saw them in digital Art DeviantArt:, pixel, vector Vexel and fractal art. Can someone please give a brief explanation of what it is, and the names of some programs that use them to make art. Thank you.
Here is Wikipedia page on vectors vs Vexel. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vexel Vector art is usually created in programs like Adobe Illustrator. The vectors are mathematically generated by the program and are independent of the resolution. This means you can create in one size and resize it without loss of image quality. Pixels are the points on your screen, and are the points that make up the image in a photograph or image from any generated by programs like Adobe Photoshop. Pixels depend largely resolution: if you try to enlarge a small image based on pixels, everything we're doing is making the pixels bigger, so the image loses quality. Fractals are an art based on mathematics. There are several programs, both free and fee-generating fractals. Fractals appear in nature, and were first described time by Benoit Mandelbrot. One of the most famous fractal sets is the Mandelbrot set, and once you see it, is likely to recognize, as has been used in all types of art. This is the Wikipedia page on fractals: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fractals sure to scroll down the page because there are very few images interesting, including one of my favorite examples of fractals that occur in nature, broccoli Romanesque.
